'First-ever FileMaker Pro Charting Contest!'
Welcome to the official contest page. Here is where you will find the contest rules, entry form, guidelines and other helpful information. If you don't find what you’re looking for, email Lee.

More than $500 in prizes will be awarded, and the winners and honorable mentions will be announced at the FileMaker Developer Conference taking place August 15–18, 2010 in San Diego, California. Winning charts will be highlighted at John Sindelar’s always-popular ‘The Year in Review’ DevCon session! After the contest the demo files will be consolidated and distributed to the community so that everyone can benefit.

The goals of this contest are to increase market awareness of the data visualization capabilities of FileMaker Pro, and to empower the developer community with exemplary charting techniques and templates. The competition encourages developers to create and share effective charting solutions that are deployed in FileMaker Pro. Any charting technology may be used within FileMaker Pro, including third-party plug-ins or methods that utilize the FileMaker Pro web viewer.

Chart entries will be judged by a panel of four experts who will evaluate them according to an established set of criteria, including:

  • graph clearly conveys a pattern, trend, or exception in the data
  • overall design effectively communicates the chart's intent
  • accurately depicts the data, while being visually appealing
  • clarity of underlying schema design and implementation
